A Case of Polymyostis

Abstract
Polymyositis is a rather rare systemic disease that has been described by many authors.
The muscle weakness in polymyositis is almost always most marked in the pelvic and shoulder
girdles and in the proximal limb muscles, the distal limbs usually being less severely affected.
The correct diagnosis may only be reached as a result of special investigations including physical
examination, serum enzyme estimation, E.M.G. finding and muscle biopsy.
And the disorder may progress steadily or advance by spontaneous relapse and remissions. In the treatment of polymyositis, steroid therapy was recommended until now.
This presentation describes, a case of polymyositis, led to a rapid and
sustained remission of symptoms as a result of dexamethasone therapy.
